Who else loved ninja murderer as much as I did?
I just saw the murderer ninja last Saturday and I loved it all is-bloody-ninja-sin warm rain shirt goodness. and i pretty sure I've seen the best Hollywood movie made martial arts since the forbidden kingdom, even the best film ever has been brought into the dragon. Do you agree with my thoughts? do what you like about it? I do not have the best effects of the blood supply? and if anyone know, what is the real name of the rain?
uh .. Ninja Assassin was EPIC! I loved this root (Rain) and root younger. The fight was full of adrenaline. Great mix of martial arts and fighting disease welding gun! The rain did great job! Did you see how real all the fights and the wounds looked?! Every time the young root was "disciplined" or punished by being trained by the old man shook me because it painful and real than it seemed. 3I do not mention me favorite love between young people and root Kiriko <loved how your loved one for himself flourished in secret. The scenes between them made me aw, how romantic was. They did a great job in putting romance in the plot and do too corny and show how he played an important role in the plot. I do not know if you noticed or not, but in the end when Mika was supposed to die, but his heart was on the opposite side where it is supposed to be like the old man in the beginning (which was giving the gangster tattoo / idiot) was very very good.:) So we can say that I loved him as much as I did: D

Martial Arts Collection: 4 Film Favorites [2 Discs] – Widescreen Fullscreen $14.99 Includes:Bloodsport (1986), MPAA Rating: R Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991), MPAA Rating: R Rumble in the Bronx (1995), MPAA Rating: R The Corruptor (1999), MPAA Rating: R Bloodsport Jean-Claude Van Damme makes his starring debut in the aptly titled Bloodsport. An American soldier at large in Hong Kong, Van Damme becomes involved in the Kumite (also spelled Kumatai), a highly illegal kickboxing competition. Whoever survives the bout will be crowned Kumite champion of the world-a title that has plenty of challengers with homicide in their hearts. The finale offers a duel to the death (or near-death) between Van Damme and reigning Kumite king Bolo Yeung. The script is based on the real-life exploits of martial arts champ Frank Dux (who serves as the film’s fight coordinator). Denied such niceties as production values, Bloodsport scores big-time in the violent action department. A sequel followed in 1995, inventively titled Bloodsport 2. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi Showdown in Little Tokyo Director Mark L. Lester modeled this police action drama on the Hong Kong style, guaranteeing plenty of over-the-top action sequences. Dolph Lundgren stars as police detective Chris Kenner, an American raised in Japan. He is given a new partner, Johnny Murata (Brandon Lee, making his Hollywood debut), a Japanese raised in America. The two are made for each other — Chris doesn’t appreciate American culture, while Johnny doesn’t much like Japanese culture. One thing they both enjoy are the martial arts, of which they are experts. The two are assigned to L.A.’s Little Tokyo, trying to nab the notorious Yoshida (Carey-Hiroyuki Tagawa), a drug manufacturer using a local brewery as his distribution center. Yoshida, a member of the Yakuza, has brought the residents of Little Tokyo to their knees. But Chris has personal reasons for wanting to get Yoshida — as a child he witnessed Yoshida murdering his parents. When Yoshida rapes and kidnaps Minako (Tia Carrere), a beautiful lounge singer, it’s the last straw and Chris and Johnny set out for Yoshida’s heavily guarded home for a big showdown. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi Rumble in the Bronx After years as a major star in most of the rest of the world, Jackie Chan finally broke through to stardom in the United States with Rumble in the Bronx, a dubbed and re-edited version of Hung Fan Kui. Here Chan plays Keung, a police officer from Hong Kong who travels to New York to attend the wedding of his uncle, Bill (Bill Tung). Bill has just sold his grocery store to Elaine (Anita Mui), and Keung finds Elaine to be a pretty good reason to extend his visit to New York. However, a mean-spirited and fashion-challenged street gang has moved into the neighborhood and is demanding protection money from the local storekeepers. Elaine is ready to sell the store and move on, but Keung is determined to show the toughs that he’s not about to be pushed around. Things get even more sticky when the hoods are on the trail of a lost cache of stolen jewels. ~ Mar |

During a critical point in their war with one another, one of the rival kings sends his commander on a mission to retrieve two mystical daggers. With these legendary knives, the clan hopes to learn the “secrets of the ninja,” which are rumored to come with them. The film features Hiroyuki Sanada, Sue Shiomi, Sonny Chiba, and Noribumi Suzuki. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi L.A. Streetfighters In this martial arts flick, Los Angeles is once again torn by street gangs, who are still killing each other over the same things, year after year — drugs, money, power and glory. Young (Jun Chong) is the leader of a gang, but his goal is to return to his homeland where he belongs and leave this the insanity of L. A. behind. Standing in his way is a turf war, a family falling apart at the seams, and a bang-up, knock ‘em dead showdown with a powerful drug cartel and its chief hitman, Kruger (Bill Wallace). ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi Bloodfight Kickboxer Bolo Yeung is the star of Bloodfight. The scene is a major martial-arts tournament, ostensibly dedicated to fair play. But all good intentions are dashed when one of the contestants (Yeung) accidentally impugns the master’s honor. Martial Arts Essentials, Vol. 4: The Films of Yuen Wo Ping Series 2 - $14.99 Includes:Bloody Fists (1972) From China With Death (1974), MPAA Rating: R Dynamo (1978), MPAA Rating: R Snuff Bottle Connection (1982) Shaolin Drunkard (1983) Close Encounter With the Vampire (1986) Bloody Fists Yuen Woo Ping, who would in time become one of the world’s leading martial arts choreographers, blocked the fight scenes for this Kung Fu action extravaganza. A small Chinese town is being torn apart by a conflict between local farmers and Japanese soldiers of fortune, who have been brought to town to liberate supplies of a rare Chinese herb. A martial arts expert gifted in both Chinese and Japanese fighting disciplines passes through town, and takes it upon himself to settle the feud. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi From China With Death The hero is orphaned early on in From China With Death. The culprit is a powerful warlord, who not only kills the protagonist’s mom and dad, but everyone else in the family. Thirsting for revenge, the young man trains diligently in the martial arts. By the time he’s ready to take on the villain, he’s a lean, mean kung-fu machine. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi Dynamo After the death of Bruce Lee in 1973, a slew of imitators invaded the world of the kung fu flick. One of the more well-known is Bruce Li (aka Ho Chung Tao), who continued making sequels and what one might charitably call homages well into the 1980s. Dynamo would, were it just another kung fu flick, rank somewhere in the middle of the pack; if the plot is strictly connect-the-dots, the fight scenes aren’t bad, and there are plenty of them. (Though it should be noted that not all of the fight scenes are actually from this film, a move made presumably to lengthen the movie, which as it is clocks in at a paltry 81 minutes and barely sustains the plot even that long.) The premise–a Bruce Lee lookalike plucked from obscurity to make money for an advertising agency–is awkwardly ironic, and mention of Lee’s recent demise early in the film doesn’t help matters, although it’s probably supposed to. When it is Li onscreen, he’s actually fun to watch, and it’s regrettable that his career is largely founded on imitating Bruce Lee. He tries, but largely lacks the latter’s passionate intensity that was key to his star quality, and the result is a film that’s a pale copy of the real thing. If you want to watch a Bruce Lee movie, then you might as well watch a Bruce Lee movie. ~ Genevieve Williams, Rovi Snuff Bottle Connection In this vintage martial arts adventure, a master fighter (John Liu) is searching for a special snuff bottle, which is no easy task since factions of Russian and Manchu armies are looking for the same bottle. When a rogue warrior with an agenda of his own obtains the bottle, the lone warrior must form an alliance with another kung fu expert, whose loyalty is up for rent. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi Shaolin Drunkard Legendary martial arts choreographer Yuen Wo Ping takes the helm for this wild and unconventional epic action adventure. Martial Arts Samurai Pack [2 Discs] - $8.99 Includes:Kung Fu: The Punch of Death (1972), MPAA Rating: R The Street Fighter (1974) Bruce Lee: The Man, The Myth (1976), MPAA Rating: PG Legend of the Eight Samurai (1984) Kung Fu: The Punch of Death In this period martial arts action drama, Fong Si Yu (Meng Fei) is a gifted but arrogant young man who has not learned how to manage his anger or use his gifts for the martial arts for positive purposes. Fong’s reckless attacks upon the corrupt leader of a martial arts academy leads to the death of his father, and the disappearance of his mother; a further assault, which claims the life of a student, leaves Fong severely injured at the hands of Iron Fist Tan (Yasuaki Kurata) and the other members of the academy. A humiliated Fong is reunited with his mother, who helps to train him for an epic rematch against Tan and the embittered students. Kung Fu Punch of Death was one of several martial arts dramas which followed the story of Fong Si Yu, most of which were produced by the Grand Old Men of the Kung Fu genre, the Shaw Brothers. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi The Street Fighter While most martial arts films focus mainly on showing the moves, strikes and blows of the combatants, they don’t show the logical consequences of these battles in any detail. The Streetfighter does, and it won an “X” rating for violence when it was released to the U.S. in 1975. This cult film and its three sequels are thought to be particular favorites of American director Quentin Tarantino. Sonny Chiba stars as Terry, a mercenary hired by the Yakuza and Mafia to kidnap a wealthy heiress. The mobs refuse to pay his large fee for the job, and he immediately changes sides. Much of the violent and gory action takes place aboard an oil tanker; though injured, Terry still takes out at least half of his many opponents. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi Bruce Lee: The Man, The Myth This biography of famed martial arts actor Bruce Lee begins as Lee is leaving Hong Kong for America, to fulfill his mother’s wishes. The story follows him to San Francisco, where he first settled, and to the University of Washington in Seattle, where he established his first martial-arts classes. Scenes from such Bruce Lee films as The Big Boss are re-created. ~ Brian Gusse, Rovi Legend of the Eight Samurai As might be gathered from its title, The Legend of the Eight Samurai is set in feudal Japan. Princess Hiroku Yokoshimaru’s family is wiped out, along with her bodyguards. All that stands between the princess and certain death is an inexperienced young samurai played by martial-arts expert Sonny Chiba. Armed with little more than determination, Chiba must battle an octet of phantom warriors, a witch, and a killer centipede! The Legend of the Eight Samurai is as good as anything else of its type, sometimes a little better. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi |

Martial Arts Double Feature: Shaolin & Rickshaw - $12.99 Includes:Rickshaw Man (1974) Shaolin Posse Rickshaw Man Rickshaw Boy is not to be confused with the Toshiro Mifune/Hiroshi Inagaki classic Rickshaw Man — as a few minutes’ viewing will prove beyond doubt. The titular boy is a harmless-looking, even-tempered lad. As such he becomes a convenient target for every bully who crosses his path. That’s when the boy transforms into a chopping and kicking karate champ, battling the baddies on behalf of justice. Originally titled Rikisha Kuri, Rickshaw Boy gives evidence of being completed several years before its US release in 1980. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi Shaolin Posse No synopsis available. |

Elvis at the Movies $11.99 Though much has been made of the notion that Elvis’s success as a matinee idol put the last nail in the coffin of his rock-&-roll rebel status, ELVIS AT THE MOVIES threatens to put the lie to that theory. Listening to this collection of tunes that sprang from the King’s films, it’s striking to realize how many of his most popular tracks had a big-screen background. The quintessential Elvis ballad “Love Me Tender,” the Big House barnstormer “Jailhouse Rock,” the kitsch classic “Viva Las Vegas”–they all made their home in the cinema.Of course, this 40-track compendium is dominated by more obscure tunes. The casual Elvis admirer isn’t likely to be familiar with the bongo-driven beach-pop of “Do the Clam” or “Charro,” which combines spaghetti-western sounds with psychedelic-cowboy lyrics about “standing alone at the crossroads of your mind.” At the same time, esoteric soul-tinged cuts like “Clean Up Your Own Backyard” illuminate an underexposed corner of the Elvis catalog, making ELVIS AT THE MOVIES all the more valuable. |

4 ABC Family Original Movies [2 Discs] - $12.99 Includes:Princess: A Modern Fairytale (2008) My Fake Fianc? (2009) Au Pair 3: Adventure in Paradise (2009) Revenge of the Bridesmaids (2010) Princess: A Modern Fairytale A reclusive princess and a directionless young man embark on a quest to save the world’s mythical creatures from becoming extinct in this romantic fantasy for the entire family. An eccentric crowned head, Ithaca (Nora Zehetner)’s quirky personality has made her something of a local legend. But curious as she may be, Ithaca is far from selfish; she’s just volunteered to auction herself off for charity, where the highest bidder will take her out for one unforgettable date. William (Kip Pardue) is so smitten with Ithaca that he spends his entire life savings only to spend a few short hours with her. Little did William realize that before the night was over he’d be helping Ithaca choose her successor; should Ithaca fail to name her heir, the mythical creatures of the world with surely perish. Now, as Ithaca’s searches for someone to inherit her crown, William finds himself falling deeper in love than ever before. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi My Fake Fianc? A sham marriage leads to genuine romance for a woman who lost everything and a guy who’s in debt to a vicious loan shark. Her moving van stolen, Jennifer (Melissa Joan Hart) is left with nothing but three throw pillows and a cardboard box. Meanwhile, thirtysomething charmer Vince (Joey Lawrence) has racked up a rather serious gambling debt. Should he fail to pay up soon, he’s likely to wind up crippled for life. Having recently met at the wedding of a mutual friend, Jennifer and Vince surmise that the best way to make some quick cash is to take a trip to the alter themselves. If everything goes as planned, Jennifer will keep the items on the registry, and Vince can avoid becoming a punching bag for a bookie’s thugs. Then, they’ll have a quickie divorce and everyone will be happy. But in order for the plan to work, they’ll have to act like genuine lovebirds. Trouble is, Vince and Jennifer already bicker like a couple that’s been married for decades. The closer the wedding gets, however, the more the prospective bride and groom find their fake affections taking on an air of authenticity. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi Au Pair 3: Adventure in Paradise The story of Oliver (Gregory Harrison) and Jenny (Heidi Saban) continues in this sequel that finds domestic tensions undermining a peaceful family vacation in Puerto Rico. When Alex (Jake Dinwiddie) reveals that he isn’t interested in taking over the family business, Jenny scrambles to ensure that the well-meaning father and his headstrong son don’t drag everyone else into their ongoing dispute. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi Revenge of the Bridesmaids Two women (Raven-Symon? and JoAnna Garcia) try to sabotage their former friend’s wedding by becoming her bridesmaids. Their motive is revenge, since the bride stole their pal’s boyfriend. ~ Jennifer Sankowski, Rovi |

The Best Advice I Ever Got $13.99 What was the tipping point for Malcolm Gladwell? What unscripted event made Meryl Streep who she is? How did Mario Batali cook up his recipe for success? In this inspiration-packed book, Katie Couric reports from the front lines of the worlds of politics, entertainment, sports, philanthropy, the arts, and business—distilling the ingenious, hard-won insights of leaders and visionaries, who tell us all how to take chances, follow our passions, cope with criticism, and, perhaps most important, commit to something greater than ourselves. Among the many voices to be heard here are financial guru Suze Orman on the benefits of doing what’s right, not what’s easy; director Steven Spielberg on listening rather than being listened to; quarterback Drew Brees on how his (literal) big break changed his life; and novelist Curtis Sittenfeld on the secrets of a great long-term relationship (she suggests marrying someone less neurotic than you); not to mention: • Michael Bloomberg: “Eighty percent of success is showing up . . . early.” • Eric Stonestreet: “Remember that the old lady who’s taking forever in line is someone’s grandma.” • Joyce Carol Oates: “Read widely—what you want to read, and not what someone suggests that you should read.” • Jimmy Kimmel: “When in doubt, order the hamburger.’” • Apolo Ohno: “It’s not about the forty seconds; it’s about the four years, the time it took to get there.” • Madeleine K. Albright: “Never play hide-and-seek with the truth.” Along the way, Couric reflects on the good advice—and the missteps—that have guided her from her early days as a desk assistant at ABC to her groundbreaking role as the first female anchor of the CBS Evening News . She reveals how the words of Thomas Jefferson helped her deal with her husband’s tragic death from cancer, and what encouraged her to leave the security of NBC’s Today show for a new adventure at CBS. Delightful, empowering, and moving, The Best Advice I Ever Got is the perfect book for anyone who is thinking about the future, contemplating taking a risk, or daring to make a leap into the great unknown. This book is for all of us, young or old, who want to see how today’s best and brightest got it right, got it wrong, and came out on top. From the Hardcover edition. |

Writing Movies for Fun and Profit $15.45 Finally, a guide to screenwriting by two guys who have actually done it (instead of some schmuck who just gives lectures about screenwriting at the airport Marriott). Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon’s movies have made over a billion dollars at the box office—and now they show you how to do it yourself! This book is full of secret insider information about how to conquer the Hollywood studio system: how to write, pitch, structure, and get drunk with the best of them. Well . . . maybe not the best of them, but certainly the most successful of them. (If you’re aiming to win an Oscar, this is not the book for you!) But if you can type a little, and can read and speak English—then you too can start turning your words into $TACK$ OF MONEY! This is the only screenwriting book you will ever need because all the other ones pretty much suck. In these pages, Garant and Lennon provide the kind of priceless tips you won’t find anywhere else, including: • THE ART OF PITCHING • GETTING YOUR FOOT IN THE DOOR • TAKING NOTES FROM MOVIE STARS • HOW TO GET FIRED AND REHIRED • HOW TO GET CREDIT AND ROYALTIES! AND MOST IMPORTANT: • WHAT TO BUY WITH THE HUGE PILES OF MONEY YOU’RE GOING TO MAKE! Writing Movies for Fun and Profit will take you through the highs and lows of life as a professional screenwriter. From the highs of hugging Gisele Bündchen, and getting kung fu punched by Jackie Chan, to the soul-crushing lows of Herbie: Fully Loaded. READ THIS BOOK—and you’ll have everything you need to make your first billion the old-fashioned way—by “selling out” in show business! A portion of the authors’ proceeds from this book are being contributed to the USO of Metropolitan Washington, a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving active duty military members and their families in greater Washington, D.C., region. |

World War II Movies - $4.99 Includes:Minesweeper (1943) Black Brigade (1969) Hitler’s SS: Portrait in Evil (1985) Minesweeper Adhering to the formula of such previous Pine-Thomas productions as Forced Landing, Flying Blind and Torpedo Boat, Minesweeper is the action-packed story of military men under wartime pressure. Richard Arlen plays Jim Smith, a once-reliable Naval officer who has virtually destroyed his life with his chronic gambling. When Pearl Harbor is attacked, Smith finds a chance for redemption. He signs up under an assumed name as a lowly seaman, then proves that he’s still made of “the right stuff” by single-handedly seeking out and destroying a new type of Japanese mine. Jean Parker, who like Arlen was a “regular” in the Pine-Thomas product, plays Smith’s loyal wife Mary, while the requisite romantic-rival duties are handled by western alumnus Russell Hayden. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi Black Brigade With The Mod Squad sweeping the Tuesday night TV ratings in 1968, producers Aaron Spelling and Danny Thomas hoped to get another multiracial adventure series on the air A.S.A.P. Carter’s Army was the 72-minute pilot for this project. Set during World War II, the film stars Stephen Boyd as an Army captain who doesn’t exactly dislike African Americans-it’s just that he holds no special fondness for them. Naturally, Boyd is assigned an all-black company, and is forced to share his command with lieutenant Robert Hooks. Despite seething racial tensions, everyone pulls together to destroy an enemy dam. Originally telecast January 27, 1970, Carter’s Army failed to spawn the planned series. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi Hitler’s SS: Portrait in Evil The two-part TV movie Hitler’s SS: Portrait in Evil crystallizes that evil by concentrating on two Berlin brothers. In 1931, Helmut Hoffman (Bill Nighy) a brilliant student and self-styled opportunist, joins Hitler’s SS. At the same time, his younger brother Karl (John Shea), a top athlete and idealist, becomes a chauffeur for the “S.A.” (storm troopers). When the SS topples the SA from power, Karl ends up in Dachau. He is rescued through his brother’s influence–if you can describe sending Karl to fight on the Russian Front a “rescue.” As he watches the Third Reich deteriorate, Helmut at long last suffers pangs of conscience. As if the story of the rise of Nazism needed any further melodrama, Hitler’s SS shoehorns in a romantic triangle involving Karl, Helmut, and beautiful nightclub-singer Lucy Gutteridge. The all-star supporting cast of Hitler’s SS includes Carroll Baker as the Hoffman brothers’ anguished mother; Tony Randall as an androgynous entertainer named Putzi (shades of Cabaret’s Joel Grey); and David Warner, repeating his Holocaust role as SS head man Heydrich. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi |
